SB 295 -- STATE AID TO COMMUNITY COLLEGES CO-SPONSORS: Stoll, Staples (McKenna) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Education-Higher by a vote of 12 to 0. This bill clarifies that community colleges may use state funds for repair of facilities and grounds to repair and maintain surface parking areas. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill makes it clear that parking areas are part of the facilities and grounds of community colleges for which state maintenance and repair funds may be expended. These projects fall under the local-state match provision for capital appropriations. Testifying for the bill were Senator Stoll; and Bill McKenna, Vice President of Jefferson College.
