Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 295 -- STATE AID TO COMMUNITY COLLEGES

CO-SPONSORS: Stoll, Staples (McKenna)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Education-Higher by a vote of 12 to 0.

This bill clarifies that community colleges may use state funds
for repair of facilities and grounds to repair and maintain
surface parking areas.

parking areas are part of the facilities and grounds of
community colleges for which state maintenance and repair funds
may be expended. These projects fall under the local-state
match provision for capital appropriations.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Stoll; and Bill McKenna,
Vice President of Jefferson College.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
